Hello All!

I just wanted to start a thread that will help us share some tips to help make our day a little easier. Those of us who have experienced this disease longer should have some great suggestions to pass on to those just starting out.

One of the things I do that makes my days a little easier is to keep certain things in every room of the house in a specific container, such as:
  • A good pair of scissors
  • A backscratcher
  • A lightweight plumbers wrench to open bottle tops
  • A very small flashlight
  • A pair of long handled tongs

My family all know not to remove anything from my containers, if they do they know that they have to put it back. I also have a small fridge in my bedroom to keep drinks and snacks just in case I have a bad day and have to stay in bed. My husband just recently brought home a dozen bottle openers to flip back the soda can tabs and the middle turns the caps on bottles. He is a sweetheart!

Feel free to add your own tips and suggestions. And don't think your suggestion is too silly, you never know who it may help!  ;)

Hello Dr. Akerkar and Thank you!

While doing some housework today I remembered some more tips.

#1) I use a rolling laundry basket. It is like the ones you use at a laundromat, except it is not as big. But it is tall enough that I don't have to bend much and I don't have to carry anything back and forth. I can hang clothes on the rack on top. I think I bought it at Bed Bath and Beyond, but I am not positive.

#2) I always have a baby bottle brush set and a long handled scrubber at my kitchen sink. I tend to rinse everything as it goes into the sink and if it has anything stuck on it, I use a few drops of soap and warm water and leave it to soak. This way when I wash the item it is soooooo much easier on my hands. I use the bottle brush on all of the glasses and the nipple brush to get into the small areas, like the spout on my tea pot.

I will post more as I think of them. I hope they benefit at least one person.
